Just in time for Rosh Hashana (September 25–26), Chronicle Books published The Little Book of Jewish Celebrations, illustrated by Yelena Bryksenkova. I’m a big fan of Yelena’s quietly colorful scenes, and this recent project is no exception:

And I’m pretty smitten with this spot illustration complementing Allison Weiner’s equally-lovely design work:

According to Yelena, the book includes “thirteen full-page color illustrations, a gold foil motif and hand lettering on the cover, and illustrated endpapers”. I’d love to see it all in person—hand lettering often carries a noticeable wonky-chic aesthetic, so this cover is a surprising exercise in balancing charm and restraint.

You can find the book on the Chronicle website, and be sure to check out more of Yelena Bryksenkova’s work.
